KUBE is excited to be hosting a community art project organised by Poppies Art Workshops; Kubella the fibreglass elephant, the mosaic masterpiece for London Elephant Parade!
This elephant will form part of the London Elephant Parade next year.It will be part of a herd of over 200 individually decorated elephants that will be exhibitedat different outside locations from March to June next year. Theelephant is being mosaiced in aid of The Elephant Family – a charity setup to promote the awareness of the decline in numbers of Asianelephants. Originally named “KUBO – the seaside elephant”, visitors have since decided that 'he' was more of a 'she', and she has been renamed Kubella!
The colours that Poppies Art Workshops are using were inspired by the waves of the seastarting with foam from lapping waves with small mirror tiles to thevery darkest blues representing the depths of the darkest oceans. The elephant was delivered from London in an ECO vanduring December and is temporarily housed at KUBE. Here Kubella is getting her multi-coloured mosaic coat by members of the community!
You can click on the images to your right to see how Kubella will look when finished, and this Summer you can visit her in London!
